In October 2024, L'Ecole Montessori des Castors moved into the farmhouse in the ecolieu Hameau des Buis.

Ecole Montessori des Castors combines Montessori pedagogy with an educational approach focused on nature. It offers high-quality support that respects the rhythm and individuality of each child. The school is rooted in the local area, with its knowledge of the landscape, history, geography and local flora and fauna. Today, it welcomes children aged 3 to 9.

This year the school welcomes 12 children. Our long-term goal (4 years) is to have 2 sections, one for 3-6 and one for 6-12 year-olds, each able to handle 15 to 20 children. To achieve this, we need to be able to invest in premises, structure the school, equip ourselves with furniture and educational resources, in particular Montessori tools, train our volunteers and employees, create networks and, in general, make all the necessary investments.

The school is non-contractual, which means that all costs (rent, teaching staff salaries, materials, etc.) are borne by the parents and supported by the association's activities. Your support is essential, and your contribution will help the École Montessori des Castors to continue its development and give the children of southern Ardèche a unique opportunity to receive an education in a Montessori, nature-based environment.

Structure information

The Les Castors association was created in May 2022. Since the start of the school year in September 2023, it has been running a private, non-contractual school in the heart of the southern Ardèche region.. The school's teaching is based on the Montessori pedagogy, to ensure the acquisition of a common base of knowledge and to meet the specific needs of each child.

The educational project, closely linked to the local area, is rooted in knowledge of the landscape, history, geography and local flora and fauna.

Partnerships with local players (craftsmen, farmers, artists, local councillors, etc.) foster concrete links between learning and children's lives.
