A school-in-the-nature project for up to 50 pupils is spreading its wings in the Haute-Garonne, in the commune of Rieumes, where Sophie Rabhi and Laurent Bouquet have founded the Oasis de Poul'Art.
This agricultural and educational ecosystem is the perfect place to welcome children to the heart of an abundance of activities dedicated to the earth, crafts and art.
La Ferme des Enfants is based on 21 years' experience in education, where all active pedagogies have been put to the test. Based on children's needs, with a realistic link to the future of today's generations, La Ferme des Enfants combines ways of taking care of children with ways of taking care of the environment. It is committed to reinventing a culture of peace and benevolence that benefits not only its students and their families, but also a society in transition that needs to deploy new skills such as non-violent communication, conflict management, direct democracy, permaculture, food self-sufficiency, energy transition professions, self-knowledge, and popular knowledge and know-how useful to a declining human organization.
La Ferme des Enfants will open in September 2025 in an exceptional location next to L'Oasis: a haven of peace 1,500 m from Rieumes town center and 35 km from Toulouse. It's an architect-designed house, abandoned for 7 years, surrounded by 2 hectares of fenced parkland. Behind the house, a long-distance footpath leads to meadows where the farm animals feed, and to forests that are sanctuaries of biodiversity.
A forest school will be set up in part of this area, specially designed to welcome children as part of a Nature Pedagogy project.
